How I price
Every engagement has a fixed price agreed in writing before any work starts. The calculators give you an estimate; the written price is what you pay.
Fixed prices are built from a reference day rate of £850. Specialists I bring into larger programmes are priced at their own day rates, agreed with you up front.
The fee for a Systems Health Check, Better Way Review or Readiness Sprint is credited against a build with me if you go ahead within 60 days.
On projects, the code, documents and accounts are yours from day one. Retainers run month to month after a short minimum.
If you ever want to own and run an automation yourself, the buy-out price is written down from the start.
Every price on this site is shown without VAT. Third-party costs such as software licences, hosting and AI model usage are passed through at cost and shown separately.
Questions
Because you should know roughly what something costs before you spend an hour on a call about it. Most of my work is repeatable enough to price up front, and the few things that change the price can be listed. Where something genuinely can't be priced from a form, the calculator says so.
No, it's an estimate from what you tell it. After a short call I confirm a fixed price in writing, and that written price is what you pay. If your answers were close, the two will match or be very near.
I tell you before doing anything outside the agreed scope, with the price for it. Nothing is added to the bill without your agreement in writing. Often the better answer is to finish what was agreed and price the extra as a next step.
VAT, and costs that belong to you rather than me: software licences, hosting accounts in your name and AI model or API usage. Those are passed through at cost and shown on their own line, never marked up.
Usually with the free 30-minute call, or the free automation proof if you already know which process is eating the week. If you suspect the systems you pay for aren't pulling their weight, the Systems Health Check is the cheapest way to find out before buying anything new.
Because it isn't always the answer. Plenty of the best fixes are a system configured properly, two systems connected, or a process with three steps taken out. AI appears where it pays, and the reviews say plainly where it doesn't.
