Written by me, not a robot. No obligation to buy anything.

Sound familiar?

It looked finished. It did nothing.

Everyone said the new website looked great. My accountant said so. My partner said so. The designer sent a lovely invoice.

Then nothing happened. No calls. A form every month or so, usually someone selling me SEO.

I'd search for what we do and find two firms I know are worse than us sitting above us on Google. I didn't know if the problem was the words, the speed, Google or me. So I did what most owners do. I left it, and told myself our work comes from word of mouth anyway.

I didn't need a prettier website. I needed someone to tell me, in plain English, why it wasn't working, what each fix would cost and which ones to do first.

That is what this report does. A website can look finished and still do nothing. The first job is finding out why.

What I check

80 checks. Every one done properly.

I run the measurements with my own AI agent tooling, then I read every result and write the findings myself. Every area is scored against up to 5 competitors you name, or that I pick from your market.
Speed and Core Web Vitals10 checks
  • Google Lighthouse performance on mobile and desktop, for each key page
  • Largest Contentful Paint: how long your main content takes to appear on a phone
  • Cumulative Layout Shift: whether the page jumps about as it loads
  • Total Blocking Time and Interaction to Next Paint: how fast the page responds to a tap
  • Real-visitor speed data from Google's Chrome UX Report, where Google has it
  • Image sizes and formats, and how much each page could save
  • Unused JavaScript and CSS slowing pages down
  • Browser caching of images, scripts and styles
  • Font loading, and whether text stays invisible while fonts download
  • Third-party scripts such as chat widgets and trackers, and what each one costs in load time
Technical SEO12 checks
  • Whether Google is allowed to index each page
  • robots.txt rules, and anything blocked by mistake
  • XML sitemap present, valid and up to date
  • How many of your pages Google has actually indexed
  • Canonical tags, so Google knows which version of a page counts
  • Redirects: http to https, and www to non-www, so there is one clean version of your site
  • Broken links and 404 pages
  • Duplicate pages competing against each other
  • Page titles: present, unique, the right length and saying what the page is
  • Meta descriptions written for searchers, not left as platform defaults
  • Heading structure: one H1 per page, with headings in order
  • Image alt text
Site structure and mobile5 checks
  • Internal links between your pages
  • URL structure: short, readable and consistent
  • Mobile layout: text size, tap targets and nothing spilling off the screen
  • Hosting and server response time
  • Language and region tags (hreflang), if you serve more than one country
Content and keywords6 checks
  • Your content footprint against competitors, with page counts taken from their sitemaps
  • The searches your site could and should rank for
  • Whether each service buyers search for has its own page
  • Thin pages with too little on them to rank
  • Reading level, against a plain-English target
  • Freshness: when pages were last updated, and whether a blog or news section is active
Local search, where it matters to you4 checks
  • Google Business Profile: claimed, complete and in the right categories
  • Name, address and phone number consistent across your site and profile
  • Location pages for the areas you serve
  • Google reviews: how many, how recent, and how you compare with competitors
Messaging and copy9 checks
  • The 3-Second Gateway test on your homepage hero: what is it, who is it for, why should I care
  • Whose problem the copy names: the buyer's, or yours
  • Your positioning against competitors: why a buyer would pick you
  • Whether the audience is clear enough to attract the right buyers and put off the wrong ones
  • Jargon count
  • Repetition count: the words you use so often they become filler
  • Headline and subhead, with rewrites
  • Call to action wording: "Submit" and "Click here" against specific actions
  • Sentence length, and outcomes and numbers against adjectives
Trust and proof10 checks

A side-by-side trust matrix of your site against each competitor:

  • Case studies
  • Testimonials
  • Client logos
  • Named people with photos
  • Reviews and ratings
  • Accreditations and memberships
  • A visible phone number
  • Published thinking: articles, guides and insights
  • Pricing signals: whether a buyer can tell roughly what you cost
  • Where proof sits: next to the claims and buttons it supports, or buried
Conversion8 checks
  • A call to action above the fold
  • Calls to action after your services and at the foot of each page
  • One clear main action, or several competing for attention
  • Form length and friction
  • Booking options and click-to-call on mobile

Security, privacy, measurement and AI search11 checks
  • HTTPS and a valid certificate
  • Security headers
  • Cookie consent before non-essential cookies, under PECR and UK GDPR
  • A privacy policy that covers your forms
  • Email authentication (SPF, DKIM and DMARC), so replies to enquiries don't land in spam
  • Google Analytics 4 installed and configured
  • Key events tracked: form submits, calls and bookings
  • Google Search Console connected
  • Structured data present and valid: Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ, Person and Breadcrumb
  • Open Graph tags, so links to your site look right when shared
  • AI search readiness: whether ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Copilot can understand who you are, read your FAQs and crawl your pages

Not every check applies to every site. If your business has no local customers, for example, I skip local search and tell you why.

What you get

A report you can act on tomorrow

A branded PDF, written in plain English, plus a short call where I walk you through it. Here is what is inside.
  1. Executive summary. Your top five priorities and a score out of 10 for each area, with the one-line reason behind each score.

  2. Competitor benchmark. Charts comparing your site with up to 5 competitors on speed, content, trust signals and conversion.

  3. Lighthouse results. Performance, accessibility, best practice and SEO scores for your key pages on mobile and desktop, and what is causing the slow ones.

  4. Messaging and copy. The 3-Second Gateway test on your homepage, and your actual hero rewritten: eyebrow, headline, subhead and buttons.

  5. SEO fix table. Every on-page issue, where it is, and the fix. Plus the pages you should build and the searches each one targets.

  6. Conversion fixes. Where to put proof, what your calls to action should say, and how to shorten the path to an enquiry.

  7. Your roadmap, with prices. Every change ranked by impact against effort: quick wins for weeks 1-2, then days 30-60 and days 60-90. A fixed price sits beside every item, plus a fixed price for a new build if that makes more sense.

  8. Measures of success. What to track at day 90, month 6 and month 12, so you can tell what worked.

Sample from a real report: a UK SAP consultancy

Scores out of 10

  • Messaging4/10
  • Copy4/10
  • SEO3/10
  • Conversion3/10
  • Technical7/10

Findings

  • Technically sound: 3rd of 6 on mobile performance, and level with or ahead of every competitor on accessibility and technical SEO.
  • Content: 2 pages, against 18 to 637 for the 5 competitors.
  • Proof: 0 of 9 trust signals. Competitors showed between 4 and 8.
  • Speed: on a mid-range phone, the homepage hero image took 8.4 seconds to appear.
  • Copy: one word appeared 12 times on the homepage. Two buttons were labelled "Click".
  • Measurement: no Google Analytics tag found, so nobody could see what was working.
“The fix is not a rebuild. It is a sharper message, visible proof and a steady flow of useful content.”
From a real report, anonymised. Reports now include a fixed price beside every item on the roadmap.

How it works

Four steps, 5 working days

  1. Step 1: Tell me about your site.

Two minutes: your website, what you want it to do, and any competitors you want me to compare against.

  2. Step 2: I review it.

I measure your site and up to 5 competitors, read every result and write up the findings. Nothing for you to do.

  3. Step 3: You get the report.

A branded PDF in your inbox within 5 working days, with every finding, the scores and the priced roadmap.

  4. Step 4: I walk you through it.

A short call, at a time that suits you, where I explain what matters most and answer your questions.

After the report

Three options. All of them yours to choose.

The report is yours to keep, whatever you decide. There is no follow-up sequence and no pressure.
  • Option 1: Do it yourself.

Every fix is written so you, your team or your current web person can make it. Many owners start with the quick wins.

  • Option 2: Website Fixes.

Pick any items from the roadmap and I make them, at the fixed price shown beside each one. One item or all of them.

    How Website Fixes work

  • Option 3: New Website Build.

If starting again costs less than fixing, the report says so and quotes a fixed price for a new, fast site you own outright.

Questions

Before you request

Why is it free?

Because it is the best way for you to judge my work before you spend anything. Some owners ask me to make the fixes afterwards, and that is how I earn. Many don't, and that is fine. I keep the number I take on each month small, so each report gets my full attention.

Is this a sales pitch?

No. You get a full report with every finding and every fix written out, whether or not you buy anything. The prices are there so you can decide, not so I can chase you. I won't add you to a sales sequence.

What do you need from me?

Your website address, an email address and two minutes for the form. If you name up to 5 competitors, I will benchmark against them; if not, I pick them from your market. Then 30 minutes or so for the walkthrough call. I don't need any logins.

Do I need to use you for the fixes?

No. The fixes are written so anyone can make them: you, your team, your current agency or another developer. If you want me to do some of them, the price for each is already in the report.

Is the report written by a person or generated by AI?

Both, in the right places. My AI agent tooling runs the measurements: speed tests, page counts, structured data and the like. I read every result, decide what matters for your business, rewrite your hero myself and write the report. You speak to me on the walkthrough call.

How long does it take?

5 working days from your request to the report in your inbox. If I have reached my limit for the month, I will tell you within one working day when your report will start.

Will it work for my platform?

Yes. I review the site as Google and your visitors see it, so it works for WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify or a custom build. Where your platform limits a fix, the report says so.

What if my website is brand new or still being built?

The report is most useful on a live site. If yours is still being built, send it anyway and say so in the form; I will tell you whether a review is worth doing now.
