Accessibility
A site everyone can use. That’s the standard.
I build this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This statement covers boxed.org.uk and was last reviewed on 21 October 2026.
Keyboard first
Every link, button and form works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring and a skip link on every page.
Clear structure
One main heading per page, headings in order, labelled regions and landmarks, so screen readers can move around quickly.
Readable contrast
Text meets at least 4.5:1 contrast in both the light and dark colour schemes, and nothing relies on colour alone.
Calm motion
Animations are small and decorative. If your device asks for reduced motion, they stop, and no content depends on them.
What you can do on this site
- Zoom text up to 400% without content being cut off or overlapping.
- Navigate the whole site, including forms and the free tools, with a keyboard or a screen reader.
- Use the site in light or dark mode, following your device setting.
- Turn off animation through your device’s reduced-motion setting.
- Read results from the free tools as text, not only as charts.
How I check it
Each page is checked by hand with a keyboard and a screen reader, and with automated tooling during the build. This is a self-assessment; the site has not had an independent audit.
Known gaps
Some older build notes contain code samples and diagrams that are described in the surrounding text rather than with full text alternatives. I am working through them. If anything else gets in your way, please tell me.
Tell me about a problem
If you find something you cannot use, or need any content in another format, email hello@boxed.org.uk. I reply personally within 2 business days and will fix the problem or get you the information another way.
